Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) is a short-term, supplemental mental health service for youth with serious emotional challenges who are experiencing a stressful transition or life crisis and need support in reaching their treatment goals. Join with your colleagues from across the state for an opportunity to learn, network, and collaborate on the future growth and sustainability of TBS in California.

WHAT IS TBS?
Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) is a short-term, supplemental mental health service for youth with serious emotional challenges who are experiencing a stressful transition or life crisis and need support in reaching their treatment goals.
WHY A BIENNIAL CONFERENCE?
TBS has provided coaching and behavioral support to thousands of children, youth, and families throughout California. For over a decade TBS has relied on collaboration and the collective strength of the treatment team, the family, and partnering agencies. It is this collaborative strength which this conference will continue by bringing together varied and creative teams from across the state for this inaugural biennial conference.
This conference provides the opportunity to:
- Network with TBS colleagues from across the state
- Learn how to implement effective strategies for TBS service design and delivery
- Collaborate with others on the future growth, fidelity, and sustainability of TBS
You are invited to join with professionals, families, and youth to help further the role of TBS as a vital mental health service which makes the difference in keeping children and youth together in their communities and with their families.

CONTINUING EDUCATION
This conference meets the qualifications for 7 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Provider 2522)

Provider approved by the California Association for Alcohol and Drug Educators, Provider #; CP10 914 C 1113 for 7 contact hours

Pre-Conference Behavioral Intervention Fair
Join your colleagues under the tent as a number of TBS specialists showcase creative interventions to address behaviors most commonly presented by TBS recipients. These engaging activities help in progressing toward treatment goals and are grounded in research and practice-based evidence. Attendees will receive a flash drive with guidelines on how to implement the over 100 showcased interventions.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17
Thursday morning’s plenary session will open with a brief presentation of TBS implementation strategies from provider and county leaders in three of California’s highest performing counties.
Special guest Jeffery Sprauge, Ph.D. professor of special education at the University of Oregon will be presenting strategies for supporting youth with behavioral and emotional challenges. Dr. Sprauge is director of the Institute on Violence and Destructive Behavior and has directed numerous federal, state, and local research activities related to applied behavior analysis, positive behavior supports, functional behavioral assessment, school safety, youth violence prevention, and juvenile delinquency prevention and treatment.
Breakout sessions will be presented by leaders from across the state and topics will include:

Casa Pacifica Centers for Children and Families is one of the largest providers of mental health services for children and families on California’s central coast. We serve over 430 families daily, many of whom have faced abuse and neglect, severe emotional disturbances, mental health challenges, multiple out-of-home placements, and a variety of other challenges.
Our campus and community services include: Emergency Shelter, Residential Treatment, Non-Public School, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Health Services Clinic, Therapeutic Behavioral Services/Intensive Behavioral Services, Wraparound, and Emergency Crisis Response.
